Weekend Clipboard
One email, Saturday mornings, from the people who write Flames Scout Wire. It takes about five minutes to read and you can leave with one click.
What is in it
- The week's pieces, with a line on each saying why it mattered.
- What we cut, and why. The claim that did not survive the fact-check, and what the record actually said. Our own errors included.
- How the cover got made, when the week's art was drawn: a rejected roll next to the one that shipped.
- One from the archive, and what is coming next week.
- The Overtime. See below. It is the reason to be on this list.
What an Overtime is
Most of our pieces have something that did not fit. A second game four days later that changed what the first one meant. A ledger of every fight in a career. The eleven minutes of an NHL debut, shift by shift. It is reported and fact-checked to the same standard as the article, and it is too long to bolt onto the end of one.
That is the Overtime, and it goes in the email instead. It is not an early look at something that appears here later. It does not appear here at all.
Read one before you decide
Two are public, so you are not signing up for something you have never seen.
- The other winger, the Overtime under our Scrapbook piece on Paul Henderson's season in Alabama. Ron Ellis found out Toronto had bought out his contract when the nameplate over his locker was gone one morning.
- A whole issue, the one from September 19, 2026, exactly as subscribers got it.
The details
- Once a week, Saturday morning, Mountain time. Never more.
- We confirm first. You get one email asking you to click a link, and nothing else until you do.
- No open tracking. There is no tracking pixel in the email. We count clicks on links, and nothing we look at ties a click to a person.
- We never sell or share the list. A sponsor is told how many people are on it, never who.
- One-click unsubscribe in every issue, and it works. Our privacy policy says all of this in full.
Browse the archive. The most recent issue is for subscribers; older ones are open.
