Scotia Place Turned the Corner. From Scotsman's Hill, It Finally Looks Different.

In August the side of Scotia Place that Calgary watches from was still a green box. Five weeks later it is white panel and gold, and the Saddledome spent Saturday night hosting a farewell tour of its own.

Inked comic illustration in warm ember tones: a darkened hockey arena with a full crowd in the stands. Three tall game-show doors stand in a row on the ice, numbered 1, 2 and 3, every one open, and a goat stands in each doorway facing the viewer, lit from behind by ember light with sparks rising out of the doorways and drifting across the ice.

The west face of Scotia Place under construction: a continuous tan roof fascia band above white perforated metal panel and printed house wrap, exposed steel and green weather wrap at the left edge where the cladding stops, and a long run of red Scotia Place hoarding banners on CANA-stamped concrete barriers along the bottom.

Scotia Place Is Getting Its Exterior. From Scotsman's Hill It Still Looks Like July.

We walked the block again this afternoon. The west and north faces of Scotia Place are being clad in metal panel, the east face is still bare green wrap, and the only side Calgary watches from is the side that hasn't changed.

Scotia Place Just Passed Two Years of Construction. The Saddledome Has One Season Left.

We walked the block in late July. Steel now wraps the whole bowl at Scotia Place, the Saddledome opens its farewell season October 1, and the same contractor is behind both buildings.
